I was just wondering what the point of leveling up general stores or tailors was. no matter where i go, whatever the level they still sell the same stuff. can someone help me?

More levels, better goods. Also, what goods a store gets with each new level is random. And keep in mind that you unless you are a member of the town, you don't get to see their two highest levels of goods.

to see more items from a town your not a resident of, their stores must be level 4 or more. at level 4 you see level 2 stuff, level 5 sees level 3, and so on.
