Gyros are a greek dish. Roasted lamb stuffed in pita bread with a special cucumber sauce. Lettuce, tomato, onion, etc. Can be made into a sandwich, but I prefer the openface style(depending on how you make it, looks like a soft taco).

oh..it was called 'shawarma' here..
anyway...they are good yeah but i dun like the taste of onions so i always put it out before i eat the whole thing

Well, there are differences. I don't like the shawarma quite as much. Though it really all depends on how you make them.
